Payroll Specialist


Senior Payroll Specialist – Impact & Process Optimization

Payroll is more than just numbers and deadlines for you. You oversee the entire payroll landscape, think ahead, and are not afraid to question existing processes. You combine operational excellence with analytical insight and take ownership of cases, processes, and improvement initiatives.

You will be part of a close-knit, human, and supportive payroll team, where collaboration is central, but there is also room to think business-wise and make a real impact.

Your Responsibilities

Operational Payroll Management

  • Take responsibility for the end-to-end payroll process for a complex employee population (blue- and white-collar workers) in a corporate environment (400+ employees).
  • Process and review timesheets, absences, and payroll input (pre- and post-payroll).
  • Manage payroll batches (red, blue, green) with attention to accuracy, timing, and compliance.
  • Ensure correct calculation and processing of salaries, holiday pay, year-end bonuses, and legal benefits.
  • Actively monitor and resolve payroll and personnel cases, with a focus on quality and service.

Proactive Employee Service

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding salary, social legislation, benefits, and personnel files.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively on complex payroll and HR matters.
  • Maintain contact with external institutions (hospitalization, work accidents, time credit, etc.).

Process Optimization & Making an Impact

  • Set up, optimize, and document payroll processes with a focus on best practices.
  • Critically analyze existing procedures and actively propose improvements.
  • Harmonize and optimize processes (e.g., benefits, fleet management, time registration).
  • Assist in or prepare system migrations (e.g., Protime).
  • Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and input for budget management (experience with E-Blox is essential).

Knowledge & Compliance

  • Stay continuously up-to-date with developments in social legislation and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Contribute to quality, safety, well-being, and sustainable work practices.

Your Experience & Knowledge

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience as a Payroll / HR Officer.
  • Experience in a corporate environment with complex payroll (minimum 400 employees).
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll for blue- and white-collar workers.
  • Experience with E-Blox (mandatory).
  • Knowledge of pre- and post-payroll, benefits, reporting, and budget management.
  • Experience with time registration systems (Protime is a plus).
  • Languages: Dutch and French (communicative).
  • International payroll experience is a plus.

Education

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in an HR-related field.
